Alonzo M. Davis

Alonzo is the executive director of JBT (Just Been Tested) Foundation, Inc.  He is a Brooklyn native and a graduate of Wesleyan University.  Alonzo created JBT to reduce health care disparities among minority and urban populations.  Despite the progress that already has been made in reducing these disparities and the outreach that already has been achieved, Alonzo saw that there was still a huge gap in health care services for minorities, youth, and urban at-risk populations.  What better place to start closing that gap than in his own community of New York City?  Alonzo is dedicated to creating enhanced strategies to access and engage those most at risk by focusing on sexual responsibility, nutrition, and fitness.  Much of health care is shifting towards a preventive model.  With the prevalence of mobile technology, we can improve access to preventive health care tools as well as engage the community by motivating young adults to implement healthier lifestyles.  Alonzo’s goal for JBT is to link wellness strategies and communities through the use of technology.  When Alonzo is not busy creating tangible change in his community, you will find him practicing what he preaches: working out, playing basketball, and just staying active.  He also can’t turn down a good book or spending time fixing and riding motorcycles.
